Fleet Street Laboratory

We guarantee to meet the most demanding requirements.

Fleet Street Laboratory was established in 2020 and is located at our central London location, Fleet Street Clinic (29 Fleet Street, London, EC4Y 1AA).

We are one of the few medical practices in London and throughout the UK to offer PCR laboratory testing on its own premises, at the point of patient care. This means that using our own Fleet Street Laboratory, we can offer our patients the fastest possible turnaround for results.

Our laboratory services include covid-19 testing, upper respiratory testing and syndromic testing for gastrointestinal infections.

The Fleet Street Clinic is accredited to ISO 15189:2012 as a Medical Laboratory for SARS-Cov-2 testing and sampling purposes.

We have three different testing “platforms”on the scope of our current accreditation for SARS-Cov-2 testing and sampling purposes. We are in the process of extending our scope of accreditation to include our newest platform and off-site sampling which we expect to achieve by the end of the year.

This makes our service resilient, flexible and reliable, ensuring that we can meet the most demanding requirements.

Our UKAS accreditation is limited to those activities described on our schedule of accreditation found here.
Our covid testing service is scalable, which has enabled us to support some of the most complex work and travel-related projects over recent months – including film production in the UK, critical corporate projects and VIP groups.

For people with upper respiratory symptoms, our testing options include “syndromic testing” – screening for an entire panel of other infections at the same time, pinpointing the exact cause and explanation: cold viruses, flu, even Legionnaires’ disease.

Alongside our covid PCR testing services, our general point-of-care PCR service was established in 2017, well before the current pandemic. In addition to upper respiratory symptoms, we also carry out syndromic testing for gastrointestinal infections in returning travellers – more than 22 possible causes can be identified on a single stool swab. Point-of-care testing is also possible for sexually transmitted infections. These parts of our service have taken a back seat during the pandemic but are now returning to the forefront as things return to “normal”. These point-of-care PCR services are not within the scope of our UKAS accreditation (and are not required to be).

It should be noted that all testing, regardless of accredited or unaccredited status, still operates from the same facilities under the same stringent conditions of quality and competence and so our patients should have confidence in the results of all tests provided by Fleet Street Laboratory.

Our laboratory is supported by a team of medical laboratory assistants, under the direct supervision of biomedical scientists and independent consultants.
