It was a massive relief to know exactly what she had.
- A. HumphreysOver the weekend, our 6-week old daughter developed the sniffles. As new parents, we were very concerned since we live in the same house as my father, who had been isolating for the past week because of Covid. We sent a saliva swab to the Fleet Street Clinic, and about 2 hours later we received confirmation not only that she was Covid-free, but that she had a confirmed PCR diagnosis of rhinovirus infection – a simple cold. It was a massive relief to know exactly what she had.

FAQs
Within the last 2 years we have become very familiar with how PCR testing works but to summarise, a small swab is used to take a throat and nasal sample. This then goes into a small plastic vial containing liquid solution. Using our in-house lab, the sample is tested right away and takes roughly 1 hour to process on the machine. Ultra rapid results guarantee your results back within 2 – 5 hours.
PCR stands for “polymerase chain reaction” which is a biochemical method of searching samples for the tiniest traces of genetic material belonging to disease-causing organisms, and then amplifying them to a point where they can be easily detected to determine if an infection is present. This can be done for any disease-causing organism and we can test for multiple causes within the same sample – making it really quick and efficient at identifying illnesses. We can clearly pinpoint the cause of your symptoms and work out the best course of treatment.
The short answer is yes.
We have an onsite pharmacy based at 29 Fleet Street Clinic. Once a diagnosis has been made, the correct treatment such as antibiotics or antiviral medications can be dispensed right away.
