The Fleet Street Clinic is a long established, independent, and multidisciplinary clinic offering a range of private medical and healthcare services to individual patients and corporate clients.
The clinic has pioneered use of point-of-care PCR testing in a patient-facing setting, which we have been able to offer since 2016. Our service has expanded considerably in the face of demand for rapid coronavirus PCR diagnosis, and over the past 2 years we have developed state-of-the-art lab with several PCR testing platforms in use.
We specialise in providing rapid PCR testing for private patients and for our corporate clients on bespoke projects within the film, entertainment, and media industries. An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Medical Laboratory Assistant to join the team in our newly built and UKAS accredited facility.
This is a clinic-based role for 40 hours per week, including evening shifts and weekend cover.
Responsibilities and duties:
- Carry out a range of routine technical and clerical duties for sample testing
- The successful candidate will be required to work to the laboratories UKAS laboratory standards and support the clinics Biomedical Scientist to prepare documentation for meetings or accreditation purposes.
- Day-to-day activities will include processing of samples following written procedures, data input, reagent and equipment management, handling laboratory queries and record keeping.
- There will be opportunity to support laboratory-based projects including POCT testing, quality improvement and safety.
- Receive, identify and prepare for incoming samples for analysis
- Entering the data from request forms accurately on the laboratory IT system
- Follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
- Liaising with our corporate team to coordinate testing needs
- Maintain agreed stock levels within the laboratory
- Assist in maintaining high standards of lab procedures and training
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- BSc in a biological sciences subject.
- Experience and knowledge in working in an accredited laboratory with project management skills, IT proficiency, flexibility, and the ability to organise your own work will be considered an advantage.
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

This is a clinic-based role for 20 hours per week, preferably Monday to Friday 08:30 – 12:30.
Responsibilities and duties:
- The successful candidate will have a varied and fulfilling role.
- Working with the Quality Manager, the role will ensure UKAS laboratory standards are met in the day-to-day running of the laboratory.
- This will include preparing documentation to present at meetings, protocol write-up, maintaining records, daily quality control and sample testing, authorising reports, managing laboratory queries, troubleshooting, liaising with suppliers and to train/monitor laboratory assistants.
- With support, the role will lead on introducing new methods and support POCT testing.
- Carry out a range of routine technical and clerical duties within sample Reception
- Receive, identify and prepare for analysis all incoming samples / request forms entering the data accurately on the laboratory IT system
- Follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedures
- Involved in the environmental monitoring system
- Maintain agreed stock levels
- Assist in maintaining high standards of lab procedures and training
- Working in partnership with the quality manager to ensure all staff are competency trained. Supporting with planning CPD activities for the laboratory team.
- To ensure the notification of adverse incidents according to Fleet Street Clinic’s internal policy and take responsibility for the investigation and resolution of incidents and reporting to a regulatory / advisory body if required.
- To support in the monitoring all non-compliances
- To take part in the identification and implementation of ongoing quality improvements and assist in monitoring the quality indicators
- To participate in equipment procurement reviews, as and when required
- Daily review of the IQC
The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
- BSc in a biological sciences subject
- Previous experience in a laboratory setting
- Highly Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- HCPC registered

The Fleet Street Clinic is seeking a clinic nurse with a keen passion for travel medicine to join our exciting and dynamic team. No prior experience in travel medicine is needed, but enthusiasm for travel and a proactive approach to health care is needed.
We are keen to hear from nurses with previous experience in vaccinations, travel health, occupational health, or practice nursing.
The 29 Fleet Street Ltd is a long-established, independent clinic offering a multidisciplinary range of private medical and healthcare services to individual patients and corporate clients.
Clinic Nurse – Main responsibilities:
- Providing travel health consultations, advising travellers on the full range of travel health issues, administering vaccines (including yellow fever), anti-malarial medications, supplying travel health-related products and medical kits.
- General adult and paediatric vaccination services (e.g. flu, HPV, shingles).
- Working off-site on corporate projects (e.g. company health promotion/wellbeing days, group vaccination sessions, flu vaccination campaigns, Covid screening for film & TV production), including occasional home visits.
- Involvement in point-of-care testing (with our own on-site UKAS-accredited lab).
- Sexual health testing
- Undertaking health screens and practice nursing services (such as wound dressings & stitches removal, contraception).
- Providing occupational health services including medicals, pre-placement assessments, health surveillance, blood tests and case management
- Occasional opportunities for travel.
About You:
In addition to your nursing qualification and entitlement to work in the UK:
- A keen interest in travel health, or tropical/infectious diseases
- Prior clinical experience, in a clinic setting or a vaccination role, is desirable.
- Experience working abroad or personal travel in developing countries is desirable.
- Qualifications and/or an interest in occupational health
- Qualifications and/or an interest in practice nursing
- An interest in undertaking further training (which we can provide or support).
- Excellent communication and English language skills (oral and written).
- Computer literate.
