Beyond consulting our Country Vaccination Guide and having any recommended travel vaccines, additional precautions are always advisable for travel anywhere in tropical or developing countries – and are a vital part of your protection. Food hygiene precautions, for example, and careful precautions against insect bites. These may often be overlooked in preparing for your trip. For more details and further information on illnesses and other important factors, head to our travel health risks page.
1. The information in our country vaccination guide is for general guidance only – it may not apply to your own particular travels or your own special circumstances, so we strongly recommend seeking individual advice from one of our specially trained travel nurses who will go over details of your travel plans with you.
2. We recommend that all travellers are up to date with childhood and other routine vaccines – including protection against tetanus, diphtheria and polio (which needs updating every ten years and is not listed separately in our guide below), and flu vaccination each winter. We offer a comprehensive service and stock most vaccines even in times of national shortages. If you would like further information on any of vaccines listed here, please head to our vaccine page where we can assist you further.
3. With cholera, our listing shows countries in which recent outbreaks have occurred, but the Dukoral drinkable cholera vaccine also offers a degree of protection from other stomach bugs, so may be suitable for some travellers elsewhere. During your consultation with a member of our travel team, they will advise you on whether it is recommended for you.
