What is the benefit of having a full screen?
A full screen checks for several different infections all at the same time and can help identify asymptomatic infection.
STI rates are increasing, with numerous infections presenting with minimal or no symptoms. Individuals with undetected infections can unknowingly pass them on to others. Left untreated, STIs can result in serious health complications and even lead to infertility. Early detection is crucial for both infected individuals and their partners.
Our rapid comprehensive panel tests for genital infections only. (For infections localised to the throat or anus, a separate test may be required. Our clinician will be happy to provide guidance during your appointment.)
Do I have to be examined in order to have this test?
No, this test only requires a urine sample or a swab that you can take yourself.
The comprehensive PCR STI panel uses either a urine sample or self-swab to test for infection.
There is no need to have a physical examination and the sample can be obtained by yourself. Your clinician will provide you with full instructions during your appointment.
How long does it take to get my results?
Within 5 hours, though often we provide results even faster.
We process all our samples through our in-house laboratory, starting as soon as the sample arrives.
Your results will be provided to you within 5-hours, but we will always do our best to deliver results even sooner.
We understand the stress of waiting for your results, so you can rely on us to turn results around as quickly as possible.
Some sexually transmitted infections can remain undiagnosed for years
Many sexually transmitted infections can be asymptomatic, so a comprehensive STI check provides important peace of mind.
STI transmission is currently at a very high level
Testing makes good sense for sexually active people
In the UK, cases of gonorrhoea have surged to their highest levels since records began, while syphilis rates are the highest since 1948. Every sexually active individual is potentially at risk.
Since STIs can be asymptomatic, screening tests are a sensible precaution for everyone.
Can I have the test without coming to Fleet St. Clinic?
Yes, you have the option to take this test at home.
We offer the convenience of sending you a urine sample container that you can return to us. Results will be provided within 5 working hours of receipt of your sample at our laboratory.
Please call +44 20 7353 567 to book a home sample kit – our receptionists will explain how best to return your sample.
For urgent results, we offer a Concierge VIP service, providing a “wait and return” courier to bring a sample container to you, and to bring your sample directly back to us for immediate testing. There is an additional cost for this service, please call +44 20 7353 5678 to book.
When is the best time to be tested?
Any time, for general screening, otherwise 14 days after any exposure you are concerned about.
The comprehensive PCR STI panel can be taken at any time if you are simply screening for peace of mind.
If you have concerns about a recent sexual exposure, we advise waiting 14 days before having the test, since it can take up to 14 days for some of the STIs to incubate or become detectable. Our clinicians will be able to advise you on the optimal timing for testing if you are unsure.
Will I automatically need treatment if I test positive?
This depends on the nature of the result.
During your appointment, your clinician will explain to you what happens if any of the tests return a positive result.
Some infections may require a short course of antibiotic therapy, which we are able to provide, whilst some tests although positive may not require treatment.
Your clinician will explain this to you during your appointment, and administer any treatment that is recommended.

Yes, our comprehensive STI panels test for multiple sexually transmitted infections (STIs) simultaneously.
The panel includes tests for common STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, herpes.
It’s important to discuss your specific testing needs with your clinician to ensure you receive appropriate testing based on your sexual history and risk factors.
A 10-panel STI test refers to a comprehensive screening test that checks for 10 different sexually transmitted infections.
The 10-panel test aims to provide a thorough assessment of an individual’s sexual health status by testing for a broad range of infections. It’s often recommended for individuals who are sexually active or who may have been exposed to STIs.

Yes, it’s advisable to get tested for STIs after every new sexual partner or if you’ve had unprotected sex with a new partner.
This helps ensure early detection and treatment of any infections, reducing the risk of transmission to yourself or others.
Open communication with partners about sexual health and testing is crucial for promoting safer sexual practices.
While some sexual symptoms may resolve on their own, it’s essential to understand that certain sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can lead to serious health complications if left untreated.
Additionally, not all STIs cause noticeable symptoms, but they can still be transmitted to sexual partners.
It’s crucial to prioritise your sexual health by seeking medical advice and getting tested if you’re experiencing symptoms or have concerns about STIs.
Our clinicians can provide guidance on appropriate testing and treatment options to address any potential infections and prevent further spread.
Boook a symptomatic sexual health screening for advice, diagnosis and treatment.
Regular sexual health checks help maintain overall well-being. Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs) can be asymptomatic, yet still pose health risks if left untreated.
STI screening helps detect infections early, enabling prompt treatment and prevention of complications, and promotes responsible sexual behaviour by fostering awareness and reducing stigma associated with STIs. It also contributes to public health efforts to limit spread of STIs so everyone benefits.
A full sexual health test, also known as a comprehensive sexual health screening, typically involves testing for a wide range of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and may include other aspects of sexual health.
This can vary depending on individual needs and healthcare provider protocols but often includes tests for common STIs such as chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, and herpes, amongst other lesser-known STI infections.
The full list of STI tests included at Fleet Street Clinic are:
- Chlamydia
- Gonorrhoea
- Herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1)
- Herpes simplex virus 2 (HSV2)
- Trichomonas
- Mycoplasma hominis
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Syphilis
- Ureaplasma
- Chancroid
We are able to add on additional testing options for a broader assessment of your sexual health status, ensuring thorough and personalised care.
It is important to discuss your concerns and testing preferences with your clinician during your appointment to ensure you receive comprehensive care that meets your needs.
HPV (human papillomavirus) testing is not typically included in comprehensive STI testing.
However, we offer additional HPV testing options that can be discussed and conducted during the same appointment if appropriate.
We recommend discussing your testing options with our clinicians during your appointment to determine the best course of action for your individual needs and circumstances.
Faithful couples are generally at lower risk, but it can still be possible to develop symptoms from past infections that have been asymptomatic or previously undiagnosed, since some STIs have long incubation periods. There is also scope for potential misunderstandings an/or instances of infidelity.
Undetected infections or misunderstandings about previous sexual history can lead to the introduction and transmission of STIs within the relationship.
Certain STIs can be indolent or take months and even years before showing any symptoms.
Open communication, regular STI testing, and consistent condom use all help reduce the risk of STI transmission, even within faithful relationships. These measures help ensure both partners’ sexual health and well-being.
If you have concerns about STI transmission or are considering getting tested, book in for a sexual health screen.
