Fleet Street Clinic offers discreet and trusted sexual health services including confidential sexual health advice, instant STI testing, and comprehensive sexually transmitted infections (STI) screening.
We understand that some people have reservations when it comes to talking about their sexual health and getting tested, but we’re here to put your minds at ease. Our experienced nurses and doctors create a safe, private, non-judgmental environment for you to be able to discuss your concerns, get tested and get treatment fast.
Screening for STIs is an important part of maintaining good sexual wellbeing, and it is important to get tested if you have had unprotected sex, regardless of whether you are displaying symptoms or not. Testing can also offer peace of mind when embarking on a new relationship.
If you have been exposed to an STI or you test positive for one, it is important to remember most STIs can be treated with simple medication. Leaving STIs untreated can lead to further, more serious health complications.
It is vitally important to get tested in order to know what medication you might need – which can be dispensed on-site using our discreet on-site pharmacy.

Do you have symptoms?
If you have STI symptoms you will need to book an appointment with a doctor.
One of our doctors will assess your concerns and can advise on which tests needed to determine the cause of your symptoms. If you require medication, they will be able to prescribe it during your appointment. Most medicines are stocked and available from our discreet on-site pharmacy, so you can start treatment straight away.
We want you to feel as comfortable as possible, so let us know if you prefer to see a male or female doctor.
If you do not have any symptoms, book a general sexual health screening appointment with a nurse instead.
HIV Testing
HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) is probably the STI that people are most concerned about. Over the years, there have been massive advances in treatments and preventions but if left undiagnosed and untreated can dramatically shorten life. We offer Instant testing for HIV.
Chlamydia Testing
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexual transmitted infections in the UK. Many people who are infected will not even experience symptoms, so testing is vital. If left untreated, chlamydia can lead to serious complications such as reduced fertility, ectopic pregnancy, chronic pain and arthritis. The good thing is that Chlamydia is easily treated. Don’t delay testing if you think you may have been exposed.
Gonorrhoea Testing
Many people don’t realise that gonorrhoea is the UKs second most common STI after chlamydia. It is found in sexually active people of all ages, though most often young adults under the age of 25 years. A large percentage of those infected will not experience any symptoms. It can lead to serious pelvic complications if left untreated.
Syphilis Testing
In recent years, the number of cases of syphilis has risen steeply. There are several stages of syphilis infection; primary, secondary and latent and late stages, the latter being the most serious. It is important to get tested frequently to avoid later stages of infections. Testing is usually done in combination with HIV testing.
Genital Warts Removal
Genital warts are more common than you might think.
During your private consultation, a doctor will diagnose and initially treat any genital warts and advise you on any further recommended treatment.
Topical and Cryotherapy treatments are available if needed.

You may not have any worrying symptoms but may want a general sexual health check up to protect your health and maintain peace of mind. You can book in to see a nurse for an asymptomatic screen. They are quick and easy to book online. We even have same day appointments available most days.
FAQs
Your results will vary depending on which test you have. Some of our sexual health tests are instant results such as HIV and you will get results in a 15-minute appointment. Some other tests take longer to receive results. You can discuss this during your appointment and if your results are time sensitive you can explain this and see what options are available.
We can deliver your results in a number of different ways; phone call, email or text message. Whichever method you choose during your appointment will be the way we communicate your results.
Yes, from start to finish we keep your information confidential. We release results either by email or text, which you provide.
Absolutely. You can discuss with the Doctor/Nurse any concerns you may have along with your sexual history. You will then be advised on which tests they think are suitable for you. It is ultimately completely your choice which tests you have done and you may choose to do less or more than is recommended to you.
Understanding your sexual health status is vitally important for a number of reasons. Firstly, all STIs are treatable to some degree and many are curable, so knowing which STIs you may have allows our doctors to prescribe you the correct medication. STIs vary in severity and many are easily treatable, particular in the early stages of the infection, but can cause more serious long term health implications if left untreated. Lastly, knowing your status and getting treated is the responsible thing to do and will prevent spreading the infection/s to other people.
Regular STI checks are always recommended but it is particularly important when:
- You have had sex with someone with a confirmed STI
- You have a new sexual partner
- You notice changes in your body and are experiencing symptoms
- You’ve had sex without a condom or the condom broke
Most STIs are spread through bodily fluids such as blood, semen, vaginal and anal fluids. You may be exposed to infected bodily fluids through vaginal, anal or oral sex.
Yes. It’s completely fine and normal to get tested for an STI at any point during your menstrual cycle and this will not affect the results in any way.
Please arrive for your appointment with a full or nearly bladder if possible, this is important in order for us to get the most accurate samples.
