Medical Pedicure in Central London

Medical Pedicure in London

A medical pedicure, also known as a “medi-pedi” will leave your feet healthy and address any foot and/or lower limb pain and problems at the same time.

It is performed by a highly-skilled foot care specialist, a podiatrist, in a private medical setting and is designed to identify and address any medical concerns as well as provide general nail and foot care.

We understand a healthy foot means a healthy body.

Looking after your feet with a regular medical pedicure is a great way to prevent foot health problems developing in the future and also allows for early diagnosis and prompt treatment of a disease, illness or injury should it occur.

Medical pedicures can also address embarrassing problems such as athlete’s foot, fungal infections, nail discolouration and ingrown toenails.

Alongside a general foot health assessment, the feet and nails are also given a bit of a pampering. Your feet will be transformed with the safe removal of any hard or dry skin, cracked heels are moisturised, corns are removed and unsightly nail conditions are corrected, leaving the feet rejuvenated. Nails are cut, cleaned, shaped, buffed and anti-fungal essential oils are applied to the feet and nails, leaving the feet feeling revitalised and looking beautifully healthy.

Any other medical concerns identified by your podiatrist will be discussed during your appointment and a treatment plan will be decided on the best way to investigate them further.

A medical pedicure is the perfect way to treat and relax your feet, keeping them healthy and pain-free.

Why get a “Medical” pedicure?

Your feet will look and feel better overall, as well as feel much more comfortable.

It is much more hygienic to get a medical pedicure rather than a salon pedicure as sterile, surgical instruments are used and thoroughly sterilised between patients. The pedicure is performed by a podiatrist who is trained to recognise the top podiatric diagnoses, which are easily overlooked in a non-medical setting, including fungus, warts, and ingrown toenails. All in all, it’s a more in-depth, personalized experience with a medical eye obsessing over the details.

What happens during a medical pedicure?

During your appointment, our podiatrist, will examine your feet and nails.

He will advise if he has noticed anything unusual that requires further investigation. He will treat the skin and nails and finish with applying essential oils to your feet and nails. The essential oils used are anti-fungal and are a great natural way to improve nail health with no chemical additives. He will provide personalised advice on how to maintain your foot health and recommend when your next treatment should be.

Who would benefit from a medical pedicure?

Medical pedicures are suitable for everyone, especially those who spend a lot of time on their feet, enjoy exercise or sports, or rely on healthy feet for their job.

They are proven to be effective for the elderly, all types of runners, those who enjoy walking and trekking as well as those with underlying medical issues, such as diabetes or poor foot circulation.

How long is a medical pedicure appointment?

A medical pedicure appointment lasts 45 minutes.

At the end of the appointment, your podiatrist will highlight any areas of concern which will require further investigation. A further appointment may be recommended.

Do you put nail polish on?

No. Our medical pedicure is a treatment which requires you to turn up with fresh, unpolished toenails.

At the end of treatment, our podiatrist will use anti-fungal essential oils which is a natural way to improve nail health. If you would still like nail polish, you can indulge in a cosmetic pedicure separately.

Does the treatment hurt?

No, this treatment in its basic form doesn't hurt.

Our podiatrists are foot specialists and have a gentle touch so there is no reason why this treatment should cause you pain. However, if we do find something during your medical pedicure that is important to treat, then there can be an element of discomfort depending on the required treatment. In any case, the podiatrist will discuss this with you first and you would be fully informed about any discomfort associated with any necessary treatments.

The travel nurse was lovely and very efficient with giving me vaccines. She even took the time to nurse a wound I had whilst I was there. Really great care.

Had to get a whooping cough vaccine to visit my new nephew in Australia…couldn’t have asked for a better service. Phoned on during the week, booked in for 9am, I arrived a few minutes early and was walking out the door vaccinated and back to work in less than 10 minutes after a refreshing chat with the lovely staff. What more can you ask for???

Have had all my work travel vaccines at FSC and they have always been exemplary. Easy to book appointments, pleasant reception staff (both over email and phone) and appointment times to suit me. Never been kept waiting past my time and quick/easy vaccines done. Highly recommend.

I attended the Clinic for two dengue vaccinations. Unlike some other clinics, there was no upper age restriction. The staff were extremely polite, friendly and knowledgeable. I was very impressed (and I have never written that in a review before now!).

We booked, we arrived and we had our vaccines. Everything as expected. What really stood out was the level of medical advice from the nurse giving us our injections. It was explained very clearly to us to the level of protection our vaccine would give. As this was a new vaccine the results of medical trials were also highlighted. There was no push to sell more products, just clear advice on what to avoid and what to do to prepare for our trip to the Far East.

FAQs

A medical pedicure is performed by a degree-educated foot specialist who uses sterilised rather than “sanitised” equipment so it is much more hygienic. A podiatrist is able to review your foot and skin health during the appointment and highlight anything concerning such as skin cancers or joint problems, as well as make your foot & nails look and feel nice. A salon pedicure is simply cosmetic.

How often you require a medical pedicure really depends upon the individual and their foot health. Some of our patients opt to come in every 4-6 weeks, whilst others leave longer between appointments. Generally speaking, patients like to have a medical pedicure every 6-12 weeks to keep their feet feeling fresh and healthy and looking great.

Make sure you are seeing your podiatrist every 6 months as a minimum, for a general check up. However, if you want to come in more often for a medical pedicure to make your feet more manageable and healthy, then every 6-12 weeks is recommended.

Absolutely, good foot health is vital for all. Medical pedicures are to keep your feet healthy and to help identify any problems such as fungal or bacterial infections, ingrown toenails, broken, cracked heels and many more common foot problems – anyone can suffer from these. If any such problems are identified, then additional appointments may be scheduled to address them further.
