Wellness Vaccinationsin Central London

Complete Protection for You and Your Family

Wellness vaccinations are all vaccines which improve the quality of your health and wellbeing. They offer protection against vaccine-preventable infectious diseases and are an essential for both children and adults.

Vaccinations have been used for many years to limit the impact of many life-threatening illnesses. Due to valiant efforts of vaccination programmes in the UK and worldwide, we’ve managed to reduce many diseases.

Wellness vaccinations offer protection for the individual by aggravating their immune system to produce an immune response. They also offer wider community protection by developing herd immunity. Once a certain percentage of the population is vaccinated, which varies depending on the infectious disease, herd immunity will protect those unable to be vaccinated. This is important so that whole communities can be protected against avoidable illness.

We would consider ourselves vaccination specialists. We have been providing wellness vaccinations and travel vaccinations for more than 25 years and are accredited to the highest standards.

We offer a range of services from childhood immunisations for babies and children, adult vaccinations, and wellness vaccinations such as annual flu jabs.

We stay at the forefront of vaccine development and you can rely on us to have all vaccines in stock whenever you need them.

DTP - Diphtheria, Tetanus & Polio

Travellers to specific countries should get vaccinated.

Hepatitis B

Hepatitis B is a contagious infection which can cause liver failure and cancer.

Protect yourself with the Hepatitis B vaccine, especially if you have HIV or an autoimmune disease.

HPV

Reduce your risk of developing HPV-related cancers including cervical, penile, neck and throat cancers.

Gardasil 9 offers the most protection against 9 strains of HPV virus.

Meningitis ACWY

Protect against 4 types of meningococcal bacteria that can cause meningitis and septicemia.

Highly recommended for those about to start University and for travel abroad.

Meningitis B

Meningitis B is the most common form of meningitis and can be fatal in 10% of cases.

While it is most serious for babies, adults can still benefit from the vaccine and adults who are likely to be near young babies should consider vaccination.

MMR - Measles, Mumps & Rubella

The MMR vaccine is a 3-in-1 immunisation against measles, mumps and rubella.

It is a routine NHS childhood vaccine, however, it was not always the case. Those born between 1970 and 1990 may only be partly immunised or not at all.

Pneumonia

Many people know that pneumonia is a potentially fatal infection. However, not as many know that there is a vaccine for it.

Those over 65 are particularly vulnerable to pneumonia and having the vaccine is a great way of protecting yourself against the serious consequences of the disease.

RSV - Respiratory Syncytial Virus

RSV is a common cause of coughs and colds. It some cases it can cause severe lung infection.

Most infections are mild, but small babies and frail older adults are especially vulnerable to severe infection and complications. Vaccination is advised for adults over 60 years and pregnant women.

Shingrix

Shingles is a very painful viral infection that generally affects people over the age of 50. It is caused by the same virus that causes chickenpox and only those who have previously had chickenpox can develop shingles.

Seeing as most people have had chickenpox as a child, it is a highly recommended vaccine for older adults.

Tuberculosis (BCG)

The BCG vaccine protects against tuberculosis (TB).

It can only be given to those who have not been exposed to TB or the vaccine. Therefore a Mantoux skin test is required before vaccination.

Whooping Cough

Whooping cough, although generally considered to be a childhood illness, is in fact more common in adults.

While the infection isn’t particularly harmful to adults, it can be severe in babies, particularly those under 1.

It is advised that pregnant women and those who may come into contact with young babies should be vaccinated.

Adult Vaccinations

It’s never too late to catch up with missed or incomplete vaccination courses, including missed childhood vaccinations.

As you get older, your immune system reduces and you’re more prone to complications from infectious diseases. Vaccinations offer protection and alleviate worry.

FAQs

Many infectious diseases are avoidable. Vaccinations offer protection against illness and reduce the likelihood of serious complications. In history, valiant vaccination programmes have managed to eradicate certain diseases from the world.

Herd immunity is reliant on a certain percentage of the population being vaccinated. If everyone had the same mindset of “herd immunity” being enough then less people would be vaccinated and herd immunity wouldn’t be achieved. Certain people are unable to get vaccinated due to medical conditions, immune deficiencies and also allergies and so it is important for all those who can get vaccinated, do.

Your immune system builds up immunity naturally when you are exposed to a disease. It is unpredictable in how well it will be able to manage against the disease. There is a possibility your immune system will be overwhelmed and you will be seriously ill. In worse case scenarios you could be hospitalised, have life-changing health conditions or it could be fatal. Vaccinations work alongside your immune system by building up immunity to a weaker strain so that if you were to be exposed to the real disease your body would be able to fight off the infection easier.

Before vaccinations are used in the general population they are rigorously tested. They have to meet independent safety standards and are regularly tested to ensure they are safe.

The stitches were removed very quickly and professionally. The nurse was very calm and approachable and made the whole experience really pleasant. It was also my first time having this type of procedure in the UK, so I was a little apprehensive, but there was no need to be!

Have used Fleet Street Clinic a couple of times for GP services, most recently this month. The team from Reception to the GPs themselves are professional, do not rush and provide sufficient time for diagnosis and treatment discussion. I can’t fault any element of the service. They deserve more than 5 stars.

I had flu and Covid jabs and saw the GP all in one shot. The booking system is online and easy. The premises are old worldly and comforting. The reception staff are efficient. The nurse was experienced and delightful. I had blood tests done. The GP ordered them and the results came back in 24 hours. Very nice GP too.

I wanted to get a private covid vaccination as soon as it is available. The Fleet street clinic must be one of the first places in London, where the private Covid vaccination is available. I booked on Saturday for my appointment on Monday. When I got to the clinic I waited for less than 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Overall a very pleasant experience. I'm glad to have the vaccine as I'm not eligible under new NHS rules.
