Covid-19 rt-PCR Testing for International Travel

For the foreseeable future, coronavirus testing will play an active role in facilitating the return of international travel. Depending on where you travel to and through will determine the  COVID-19 testing requirements.

Each country will dictate which pre-departure  coronavirus testing is required to gain entry. At Fleet Street Clinic we only offer rt-PCR testing for pre-departure tests.

For those returning back to England, there are mandatory COVID-19 tests upon your return. We offer several packages for day 2 and day 8 testing at the Fleet Street Clinic, in addition to other coronavirus tests.

If you are travelling to and returning from a green list country, you are required to book the green package. The green package includes one day 2 COVID-19 rt-PCR test administered by one of our clinical staff at our clinic on Fleet Street.

If you are travelling to and returning from an amber list country, or have passed through one in the 10 days prior to your return, you are required to book the amber package.  The amber package includes one day 2 COVID-19 rt-PCR test and one day 8 COVID-19 rt-PCR test, both administered by one of our clinical staff at our clinic on Fleet Street.

We also facilitate PCR testing as part of our pre-departure and test-to-release schemes

Many countries require you to present a negative result from a pre-departure COVID-19 PCR swab before you can enter them. You can find the requirements for your destination country by searching for their guidelines on the GOV.UK website.

If you are returning to the UK from an amber list country, and you need to quarantine, you will be eligible for our day 5 testing (test to release) as long as you have tested negative on your day 2 test.

More information on all our travel Covid-19 rt-PCR tests can be found below.

Which package do you need?

Green, Amber or Red

The type of package you require will depend on which country you are travelling from and through. As the coronavirus pandemic is an ever-changing landscape, we would recommend visiting the UK Government's website to find out more information on what countries are considered Green, Amber & Red.

We are not able to accommodate travellers returning from a "Red" country. You will need to look at the UK Government's website to find more information.

FAQs

PCR testing is mandatory for those returning from green and amber list countries as part of government’s guidelines. Day 2 is mandatory for all, whilst day 8 is only mandatory for those who have travelled from or through an amber list country in the 10 days prior to their return. This is to check if you have coronavirus and to find out if you will have to self-isolate in your home.

Red list countries and territories are the countries subject to the strictest travel restrictions. To return from a red list country, you must take a COVID-19 test, book a quarantine hotel package (including 2 COVID-19 tests) and complete a passenger locator form. We do not currently provide testing for travellers returning from red list countries at the Fleet Street Clinic.

Amber list countries are subject to travel restrictions of medium severity. To return from an amber list country, you must book and pay for day 2 and day 8 COVID-19 travel tests and complete a passenger locator form. You can find out more about our amber package here [link], which includes one day 2 and one day 8 test administered at an in-clinic appointment.

Green list countries are subject to the least travel restrictions. To return from a green list country you must book and pay for a day 2 COVID-19 test and complete a passenger locator form. You can find out more about our green package here [link], which includes one day 2 test administered at an in-clinic appointment.

The day you enter the UK counts as day 0 and not as day 1. For example, if you returned to the UK on June 13th 2021, your Day 2 test would take place on the 15th June 2021.

Upon arrival in the UK, all international travellers are required to self-isolate. If you have only travelled from or through a green list country in the 10 days prior to your return, you must book a day 2 test to be taken after you arrive. If you receive a negative result from this test, you may leave quarantine.

If you have travelled from or through an amber list country in the 10 days prior to your return, you must book a day 2 and day 8 test to be taken after you arrive. Unless you take a day 5 (test to release) PCR test, you must quarantine for 10 days after your arrival. Find out more about quarantining if you’ve been in an amber list country here.

If you would like to leave quarantine early after returning from an amber list country, you can book a test to release PCR test.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide testing for travellers returning from red list countries. More information about returning from a red list country can be found here.

Once you have booked and paid for your day 2 and/or day 8 test(s), we will register your information with our external lab. Once this has been completed, we will provide you with your ID number for your passenger locator form.

For day 5 testing, we will provide you with your ID number once we have registered you with our in-clinic lab, following the booking and payment for your day 5 test.

We are only providing day 2 and day 8 testing as in-clinic appointments at the moment. Please contact us on 02073535678 or  testandrelease@fleetstreetclinic.com if you would like a nurse visit at home or a corporate location.

Our PCR equipment has been calibrated to pick up the gene of coronavirus and so it will detect all variants of covid-19 as they all share the same gene. We can calibrate our machines further, should the need arise in the future – such as, if a new variant is identified that has more genetic variety than what can currently be detected. We can do this swiftly without impacting the service we provide our patients.
