What can I expect from my initial appointment?
During your initial appointment, you will discuss your medical issues and lifestyle with our dietician.
We’ll discuss what you hope to achieve and Ruth, our dietitian will provide personalised advice to meet your individual needs. All information shared during your appointments are kept confidential and a willingness to be open often produces the best results.
What do I need to bring to my initial appointment?
We recommend bringing any medical documents you may have, such as doctor letters, GP summaries, medication list and/ or blood results.
This information can be helpful to plan your personalised nutrition information.
It’s also worth thinking about your goals prior to the consultation rather than thinking on the spot in the appointment. You will be able to carefully decide what you want support with and it will provide Ruth a far more accurate idea on how she can best help you.

FAQs

A nutritionist can have any kind of qualification or even none. It is important to remember that there are also registered nutritionists who have a solid degree in nutrition and are trained to advise on healthy nutrition to healthy people but not all are and so it can be risky than choosing to see a dietitian which is government by an ethical code to ensure that they always work to the highest standard.

Food allergies need to be tested by an allergy specialist doctor and is not something our dietitian can help you with. Food intolerances are tested with careful history and discussion with the patient. It is important to get these tests done at reputable medical practices rather than over the internet as some tests are unregulated, not recognised by medical professionals and/ or are scientifically unproven to accurately indicate a food allergy.
